- 🍳 Cook time: 10 min
- 🍽️ Servings: The recipe makes twelve individual bites
- 🔪Tools: pan, blender
Ingredients
- 12 Mozzarella sticks
- or alternatively 1 Block cut into sticks
- 1 bag of unsweetened Pork Rinds (100g)
- 112ml Heavy cream (1/2 cup)
- 2 Eggs
- A pinch of salt (only if you want)
- Lard or beef tallow
Directions
- Cut the Mozzarella into sticks if you don’t have pre-formed sticks
- Grind the pork rinds into fine crumbs or powder
- Mix the cream and the eggs in a bowl, add some salt if you like
- Dip the sticks into the cream and then cover them in the pork rind crumbs (similar to a breading procedure)
- Heat up a pan with either lard or beef tallow
- Fry the mozzarella sticks on medium heat until they turn golden-brown
Note:
- Pork rinds are often unsalted or only lightly and Mozzarella is a bland cheese as well, so you might want to add some.
- It can help to quickly toss the “breaded” Mozzarella sticks into the fridge or even the freezer for 5 minutes prior to frying, so the cheese doesn’t melt out prematurely.
