Ingredients
- 350g pork meat (preferably lean, for example shoulder)
- 150g pork belly (without skin, as much fat as possible)
- 1 onion (optional, leave out or replace with dried onion powder if you prefer)
- 1 clove of garlic (optional; leave out or replace with dried garlic powder if you prefer)
- 0.25 tbsp cumin (optional)
- 0.25 tbsp pepper (optional)
- 0.25 tbsp salt (optional)
For the true traditional version, include all the optional ingredients.
Directions
- Cube the pork meat and the pork belly.
- If you add any optional options, put the cubed meats into a bowl. Otherwise, skip to step 5.
- Chop the onion coarsely and the garlic finely. Add them to the bowl.
- Add the spices and mix everything well.
- Put your meat mixture through a meat grinder and run it through a 6-8mm coarse grinder plate.
- Repeat the whole grinding process through a finer 4-5mm grinder plate.
- You now have Mett. If you want to deviate from the traditional grind and prefer it finer, you can run it through the grinder once more.
Eat it all on the same day and do not store it for later.
