The perfect crunchy snack for movie nights, family hangouts, or just those moments when you need a little something during the day. Also very convenient if you need a recipe to use up some eggwhites.
- ⏲️ Prep time: 5 min
- 🍳 Cook time: 15 min
- 🔪Tools: a bowl, a whisk, a teaspoon, a baking sheet, a baking tray
Ingredients
- 2 cups of eggwhite
- 3 tablespoons of water
- spices of your choice (I use garlic powder, salt, curry and paprika)
- some finely grated cheese of your choice
- some butter
Directions
- Put the eggwhites into a bowl and whisk them until white and foamy. No need for them to get hard.
- Add the water and the spices and whisk again. Be careful not to overspice: the mix should taste slightly salty. If unsure, bake one chip first and taste if you need more spice.
- Put the baking sheet on the baking tray and spread some melted butter on its surface, so that the chips come off easily.
- Preheat the oven to 140 degrees Celsius.
- With a teaspoon, drop small portions of the batter onto the baking sheet to form little chips.
- Sprinkle some cheese on top of each chip.
- Bake for 15 minutes. Experiment with the time to find out how you like the chips best. If you want maximum crunch, turn them around and bake for a few more minutes.
Notes
- They taste best with a dip of cream cheese and lemon.
- Store them in a dry place; they keep for a very long time if kept dry. If they lose their crunch, you can dry them in the oven again.
